That was what welcomed me home this afternoon. Fun!
Thankfully after an hour of swearing and messing around with the recovery CD, I found that (a) only one of the partitions on my drive (the one with Windows) had been messed up, and the entire drive hadn’t failed; and (b) it was easily fixed by running CHKDSK.
Phew.
